Beyond Real got involved from an early stage to help develop and integrate two of the immersive spaces. The first was bringing the Virgil Abloh
Our approach to the Theaster Gates “Amplified” stage was even more interesting to plan, as we had to keep the essence of analogue through out. The whole concept with the work by Theaster Gates, Amplified, was to exist as a sonic installation during the day and transform into a space that hosts live performances by night, with shows by established and emerging musicians recorded and pressed direct-to-disc on The Vinyl Factory Lathe
Over the coming months, before the opening of Reverb, we designed and created a system to work in conjunction with the space and also with Vinyl Factory’s lathe team. One of the early challenges we had to keep in mind from the get go, was to integrate our system very closely with the incredible analogue element. We had to encapsulate and preserve as closely as possible, to the true essence of the recording sessions that would be cut to vinyl.
We collaborated closely with the legendary, Pete Norman. On June 11th 2024, we went live with the first of the series with a debut performance by Ragz Orignale.
Since then, we have produced live nights and recordings with an array of talent including Kokoroko, Fabiana Paladino, Hendrix and many more!
The exclusive performances will be released on Vinyl, as part of the original series, brought to you by The Vinyl Factory.
Reverb opened it’s doors on 22nd May 2024 and runs until 28th September 2024.
